My name is Tony Rodriguez, I'm a cuatro player. The cuatro is the national instrument of Puerto Rico. It used to be a secret but, not anymore. It's now heard as far away as Japan and Germany. Recently one of my friends from the town near by got a great gig playing cuatro with Ricky Martin. He's on the new unplugged video. His name is Christian Nieves and he is the premier cuatro player of the year. I watched him grow up and feel great that one of us ( cuatro players ) made it to the big leagues. I recorded one of Carlos Santana's tunes, Samba Para Ti on the cuatro and it's on this page as you read this it should be playing. It's my style. I call it " Criollo Jazz ". I love this instrument. I can really express myself on it. I made this site to show off the cuatro and my artwork. Glad you could visit.
Hace tiempo que estoy tocando el Cuatro, el instrumento nacional de Puerto Rico. Ha tenido la oporturnidad de tocar con los mejores de este genero de musica. Trataba de buscar MI sonido en el cuatro. Lo llamo Criollo Jazz. Hace poco grabe una cancion de Carlos Santana en el Cuatro. " Samba Para Ti". Lo toco cada vez que me contratan para musica, y lo puedes escuchar mientras estas en esta pagina. El Cuatro era un secreto de Puerto Rico, pero ya no. Ahora es mundial. Me siento orgulloso de haber compartido con esos Cuatristas que estan tocan por el mundo este instrumento y sonando con Ricky Martin y otros grandes artistas.
Este retrato del cuatro se tomo en la playa de Salinas. Experimentando sujetando el cuatro en una mano y la camera en la otra. El foto abajo era jugando billar en Naranjito y llegaron musicos y empazamos a tocar. Durante el break dejaron los instrumetos encima del billar y le saque este foto.
